Designed for Olympic weightlifting, the Riot Weightlifting Bar 2.0, 20kg IWF Men's Spec offers the ideal balance between flexible and smooth rotation. The 28 mm shaft and durable needle bearings provide optimal whip and spin for snatch and clean & jerk. Like every bar in the Riot range, it is designed in-house, including the mid-width, sword-and-torch-inspired sleeve collar shared with the Women's Bar and the Hybrid Bar.
The medium-width sleeve collar is part of Riot's in-house design language. Its angled, faceted profile suggests an Olympic torch from one side and a blade from the other. On the Weightlifting and Hybrid Bars, it sits between the slimmer collar used on the Power Bars and the wider versions fitted to the Squat and Deadlift Bars.
Hard chrome covers the shaft and sleeves, using the same mirror-bright finish found on the sleeves throughout the Riot range. The thin, dense coating resists rust and abrasion while following the knurl profile closely, helping the moderate pattern retain a firm, secure grip through regular heavy training. Calibration is reserved for the stainless steel, nickel and black chrome bars in the range.
Each sleeve rotates on needle bearings made from slim steel rollers arranged around the shaft. This rolling contact reduces friction and keeps sleeve rotation smooth through the turnover in the snatch and clean and jerk. Less rotational force reaches the hands and wrists as the bar moves into the catch.
The 28 mm shaft provides a noticeable, controlled whip under load. During a heavy snatch or clean, the shaft flexes through the pull and rebounds as the lifter moves under the bar. Experienced lifters can coordinate the pull and catch with this movement.
The bar name, weight and shaft diameter are laser engraved on the inside face of the Sleeve Collar. The specifications remain visible whether the bar is hung, stacked or stored collar-first. The blue end cap repeats the 20 kg weight, making the correct bar easy to identify on a busy gym floor.

Is this bar approved for IWF competition?
It is built to the relevant IWF specifications for men's Olympic weightlifting, including weight, dimensions and marking positions, but it is not IWF-certified or approved for use in official competition.
Why does it have a center knurl but the women's bar doesn't?
This follows the IWF specification for men's bars, which includes a center knurl; the women's spec omits it. It's a standards difference, not a performance one.
Why needle bearings and not bushings?
Needle bearings spin almost frictionlessly, letting the bar rotate independently of your wrists during the catch and turnover, critical for snatch and clean & jerk technique.
Can this bar handle powerlifting movements?
It can be used occasionally, but it's optimized for Olympic lifting, not heavy max-effort squats or bench press. For that, choose our Power Bar range.
What's the whip like on this bar?
The 28 mm shaft combined with the bearing-driven spin gives noticeable, controlled whip that helps drive the bar through the turnover in cleans and snatches.
What's laser-engraved on this bar, and where?
The name, weight, and shaft diameter are laser-engraved on the inside face of the sleeve collar, so they stay legible for the bar's whole life. The end cap repeats the weight and is colour-coded blue for this 20 kg bar.
Why does the sleeve collar look like that?
It's part of Riot's in-house design language: the angled, faceted collar is drawn to suggest both an Olympic torch and a double-edged sword. This bar shares the mid-width collar with the women's Weightlifting Bar and the Hybrid Bar.
