Can the Riot Functional Trainer be used as a standalone machine?
Yes. The system can be installed independently by mounting it to a wall or by using the Riot MRR feet for your selected freestanding setup.
Is the Functional Trainer compatible with all Riot MRR racks?
It is compatible with Riot MRR racks with 2100 mm and 2300 mm height. It is not compatible with the 1800 mm rack version.
Why does the system use a 2:1 pulley ratio?
A 2:1 ratio provides longer cable travel, smoother resistance and more precise weight adjustments. It also reduces inertia and makes exercises feel more controlled.
What is the maximum load for attachments?
Each cable pull point can handle the full weight stack. The maximum load for attachments depends on the attachment itself.
Which rack is compatible with the RIOT Functional Trainer Extension?
The Extension is designed for compatible RIOT racks in 2100 mm or 2300 mm height. The RIOT MRR Half Rack uses the 425 mm crossmember, the RIOT MRR Compact Rack uses the 725 mm crossmember, and the RIOT Standard Rack uses the 1075 mm crossmember.
How do I configure the functional trainer for my rack?
If you already own a RIOT rack and want to upgrade it with the functional trainer, select Rack-Mounted for the Extension setup. Choose the crossmember that matches your rack (425, 725 or 1075 mm), your preferred weight stacks (120 kg or 150 kg) and height (2100 or 2300 mm).
Can I do cable crossovers if I’m 194 cm tall?
Yes! We recommend choosing the 2300 mm rack height. Our team has tested it with users who are even slightly taller than 194 cm — crossovers work great.
I have a rack with a standard pull-up bar. Can I still use it?
Yes. The Functional Trainer attachment is also compatible with a standard pull-up bar. However, due to the mounting position of the Functional Trainer, the pull-up bar must be installed horizontally between the crossmembers rather than vertically. This is done by tilting the bar during installation. Once mounted, the pull-up bar can be used normally and its functionality is not affected.
